2020-03-12 Food tour of the Old City of Jerusalem

Join us for an authentic tasting journey, between different times and religions, through the Old City of Jerusalem between the walls. We will hear about the rich history of the place, which made it sacred for the three religions, we will walk through the different districts, we will see all kinds of people, we will taste an abundance of foods and we will hear the most interesting stories. We will start with a local original coffee, taste a pastry in a bakery that has existed for over 400 years, visit an old and hidden tahini factory and taste black tahini, find out what makes chickpeas the best, smell spices with special qualities, hear about a business that goes on for generations. The ancient, the only institution agreed upon by all as the best in its field. We will take you through the narrow and lesser known alleys, visit beautiful views and together we will open our mouths and hearts to all the abundance that the Old City has to offer.

What do we have planned for you? A detailed game plan en route to your first art piece!

1st meeting: Graffiti background + tags/fonts/texts, short background on the history of graffiti, its significance in today’s art scene and how to go from graffiti to gallery.

We’ll also learn what every font is made of, how to create your own font and gain control of lines, fillings and textual effects.

2nd meeting: creating original Graffiti font, learn how to use shadow and light, using spray, transitions, lines and shading, combining font and basic objects, shadow casting, using font to convey an artistic message, 3D fonts.

3rd meeting: stencil learn the basics- understanding how to make a picture or a drew into stencils, pros and cons of using stencils and the different materials used to create them, how to cut stencils, the different textures you can create using them and principles for creating stencils in layers- designing via Photoshop and for homework- creating the stencil.

4th meeting: advanced stencil class- 3 layers built stencils, combining text and background.

5th meeting: colors- color theory, color mixing, color platter- transitioning between two colors, transparency, color combination and templates, layering, diversity and control of color, highlights, shadows, midtone, the importance of contrast in an art piece, color theory of material vs. color theory of light

6th meeting: enlarging and copying- understanding copy method by using grid- Make Any Image Bigger, Small, using references and how to work with them, how to use a reference without copying- planning.

7th meeting: creating a personal project- planning your work on sketches and starting your project

8th meeting: completing your project, conclusion chat, certificates!
